IT-Studios

Ready lessons, practice and digital skills for grades 1–11

IT-Studios

The case shows how AMEDIA builds national-scale public education services: a single platform serving three distinct roles — students, teachers and parents — under web-accessibility requirements and state education standards.

01 — OVERVIEW

IT-Studios is a set of digital computer-science learning resources for students and teachers: ready-made lessons with interactive materials and hands-on tasks, delivered on a dedicated module of Ukraine’s state platform Diia.Education. The project is run by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, with support from the EU-funded EU4DigitalUA program. The learning resources comply with the State Education Standards and the New Ukrainian School concept.

Purpose of the product

Theory gives way to practice, and outdated content is replaced with modern formats: animated videos, presentations and localized materials for in-person, remote and blended learning.

What IT-Studios changes

Teachers no longer assemble lessons from scattered sources, and every student gets the same modern content regardless of their school or learning format.

02 — WHO IT'S FOR

Three roles in one learning environment

Students, grades 1–11

Complete lessons and hands-on tasks, revisit material independently, and study the subject in greater depth.

Teachers

Run virtual classes, grade student work and use ready-made teaching materials for every lesson.

Parents and guardians

Track their child’s progress: grades and completed assignments in their own portal.

03 — THE PROBLEM IT SOLVES

School computer science lags behind the pace of technology

IT-Studios addresses three systemic problems with the subject:

Outdated CS curriculum

Traditional curricula lag behind technology — AI, cloud services and digital safety are missing from lessons.

Unequal access to quality content

Not every school has equally strong teachers or up-to-date materials, especially for remote and blended learning.

Lack of hands-on practice

Students mostly read theory instead of building their own projects, games and digital content.

04 — KEY FUNCTIONALITY

Lessons, portals and gradebook in one module

Ready-made lessons and exercises

Interactive lessons for grades 1–11: animated videos, presentations, localized materials and hands-on tasks.

Teacher’s portal

Create virtual classes, add students, track deadlines on a calendar, and use implementation guidelines.

Digital gradebook and statistics

Class grades filterable by student, module, lesson and task; archiving of learning achievements.

Student’s portal

Complete lessons and tasks, redo exercises, and study independently in greater depth.

Parent’s portal

View a child’s grades and completed assignments to monitor learning progress.

Platform accessibility

Adjustable text size, color and contrast in line with web-accessibility principles.

05 — HOW THE PRODUCT WORKS

From registration to content updates

Six steps that bring students, teachers and parents together on one platform:

01

Registration

Teachers and students sign in to their portal via id.gov.ua (the Diia portal).

02

Setting up a class

The teacher creates virtual classes and adds students to them.

03

Learning across 6 strands

Digital literacy, digital citizenship, computational thinking and programming, media creation, data analysis and modeling, and digital synergy (AI, ethics and safety).

04

Grading

The platform automatically builds a digital gradebook and class statistics.

05

Parental oversight

Parents see their child’s grades and completed assignments in their own portal.

06

Content development

The project team updates lessons based on surveys of teachers, students and parents.

10 — PROVEN RESULT

A school subject turned into a national digital resource

Project result

IT-Studios has turned a single school subject into a national digital learning resource: since its 2022 pilot, the program has reached more than 30% of Ukrainian schools.

The platform adds new content every year — 500+ exercises and 320 lessons — and earns strong marks from teachers and parents: 4.16 out of 5 for navigation. The project’s goal is to bring modern digital skills to 4 million Ukrainian schoolchildren, regardless of where they live or how they study.
